CBP Opens Global Entry Enrollment Center at New Orleans International Airport

NEW ORLEANS—U.S. Customs and Border Protection today opened the doors to a new Global Entry Enrollment Center at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). MSY becomes CBP’s 84th Global Enrollment center.

“Global Entry has proven to be a winner for trusted international travelers, and a program widely applauded by traveler advocacy groups,” said Shawn Polley, CBP port director for the Port of New Orleans. “I am happy to open a Global Entry Enrollment Center here in New Orleans to make it convenient for Louisiana residents to complete their application process.”

The enrollment center is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located on the first floor outside CBP’s federal inspection station. CBP officers will only interview Global Entry applicants with appointments.

Previously, Global Entry applicants in Louisiana would have to drive more than five hours to the next closest enrollment center in Houston, or fly to an airport or other facility in another state.

Global Entry is a trusted traveler program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to save time when arriving into the United States from abroad by bypassing the traditional CBP inspection process and using an automated kiosk to complete their admission. These kiosks are present at 42 international ports of entry in the United States and at 12 preclearance locations in Canada, Ireland and Abu Dhabi. These locations serve 99 percent of incoming travelers to the United States.

Interested individuals may apply online at CBP’s Global Online Enrollment System.  Applicants must possess a machine-readable U.S. passport or permanent resident card, pay a non-refundable $100 application fee, undergo a background investigation with fingerprint check, and complete an in-person interview with a CBP officer. Global Entry membership is good for five years.

Currently, Global Entry is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, Dutch citizens, South Korean citizens and Mexican nationals. Canadian citizens enjoy the benefits of Global Entry through membership in the NEXUS program. U.S. citizens enrolled in Global Entry automatically become eligible for benefits of TSA Pre✓™ for domestic travel.
