“Teamwork is the beauty of basketball, and it’s what has made me a good team player,” says Allen. “I’ve played most of my life, in high school and college, and it’s taught me to love working with others.”
Allen Yan grew up in Hangzhou, China and attended East China University of Political Science where he received his bachelor of law degree. In 2014, he will also receive his master of law degree in International Law from the same university. Besides his Chinese education, Allen received his Master of Laws degree from the University of Wisconsin law school.
Before working for Addison-Clifton, Allen was an intern for Baker & McKenzie in the Shanghai, China office and another local firm. “My educational background and work experience allow me to really understand American, Chinese and International Law,” explains Allen. “My bilingual ability has helped me work between the Brookfield, Shanghai and Ningbo offices.”
Allen Yan is an associate in the Asia Market Service department at Addison-Clifton, where he provides analysis for client memoranda regarding cross-border compliance issues and monitoring trade compliance developments in China, India and Korea. His liaison services between the Brookfield office and other agencies in the Midwest help coordinate Wisconsin-China business and cultural events.
“Just like with basketball, the desire to help my team win a game is the same as the strong commitment I feel for meeting our clients’ needs,” explains Allen. “The firm gives me an opportunity to once again be part of a team and work alongside people of different backgrounds and cultures.”
